Country overview
Pura Vida — Pure Life

Costa Rica contains 5% of the world's biodiversity in a country that covers just 0.03% of the earth's surface. The numbers are staggering — over 900 species of birds, 230 species of mammals, 220 species of reptiles — and the conservation record to match. Costa Rica has restored more than 25% of its territory to primary forest and runs almost entirely on renewable energy.

Our tours move through the country's most spectacular ecosystems: the cloud forest of Monteverde where visibility can be measured in metres, the volcanic landscape of Arenal, the Caribbean rainforest of Tortuguero accessible only by boat, and the Pacific beaches of Manuel Antonio. Maximum 14 guests means we can access lodges and trails that larger groups cannot.

Monteverde Cloud Forest
The most biodiverse forest in Central America — sloths, quetzals, and a canopy walkway above the clouds.
Arenal Volcano
One of the world's most active volcanoes — hikes through lava fields, zip-line canopy tours, and hot springs in the shadow of the cone.
Tortuguero
A labyrinth of jungle canals accessible only by boat — jaguars, manatees, green turtles nesting on the beach, and extraordinary birdlife.
Manuel Antonio
White-sand Pacific beaches backed by primary rainforest — monkeys on the beach, sloths in the trees, and coral reef snorkelling offshore.

"Costa Rica in 8 days — we saw sloths, toucans, a jaguar sighting, and zip-lined through the cloud forest. The lodges were extraordinary. This is how adventure travel should be done."

"Tortuguero by boat at dawn — howler monkeys, basilisk lizards running on water, a caiman on the bank. Then Manuel Antonio for the final days. Perfect contrast."

Frequently asked
Costa Rica Travel Questions
Do I need vaccinations for Costa Rica?
Hepatitis A and Typhoid are generally recommended. Malaria prophylaxis may be advised for the Tortuguero region. Consult your doctor at least 6 weeks before departure.
What fitness level is required?
Our standard Costa Rica tours are suitable for all active travelers. Some activities (zip-lining, longer forest hikes) are optional. The terrain is uneven but we set a pace that works for everyone.
Is turtle nesting guaranteed on the Tortuguero tour?
Nesting season runs July to October with peak activity in August–September. We time our turtle-watching departures to coincide with peak season but sightings depend on nature.
Can I combine Costa Rica with Panama or Nicaragua?
Yes — ask your advisor about Central American extension options.
